This page is designed for students who are currently attending the University of Iowa. You will find information and links to pages within the Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) website to assist you in the financial aid process.
As a returning undergraduate, you may have different needs from prospective and incoming undergraduates. Our mission remains the same; to assist students whose personal and family resources are not adequate to cover the costs involved in attending the University of Iowa.
To be considered for federal, state, and need-based institutional aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. Some financial aid funds are limited and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis so it is important to file your 2017-2018 FAFSA as soon as possible after October 1, 2016. File the 2017-2018 FAFSA by December 1, 2016 for priority consideration for need-based scholarships and grants awarded by the UI OSFA. When completing the FAFSA, the UI OSFA recommends that you use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to transfer your tax information directly from the IRS onto your FAFSA.
If you applied for financial aid in the previous year, the Office of Financial Aid will send you a reminder email to apply for aid in the coming year. Remember, you must complete a new FAFSA for each academic year that you wish to receive aid.
