This page is designed for students who are currently attending the University of Iowa. You will find information and links to pages within the Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) website to assist you in the financial aid process.

As a returning undergraduate, you may have different needs from prospective and incoming undergraduates. Our mission remains the same; to assist students whose personal and family resources are not adequate to cover the costs involved in attending the University of Iowa.

To be considered for federal, state, and need-based institutional aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. Some financial aid funds are limited, so it is important to file your 2024-2025 FAFSA as soon as possible after it opens in December 2023 (date has not yet been announced). The filing deadline for maximum financial aid consideration is February 1, 2024. When completing the FAFSA, we recommend that you use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to transfer your tax information directly from the IRS onto your FAFSA.

You must complete a new FAFSA for each academic year that you wish to receive aid.
