Due to changes in federal legislation, students who meet the following criteria are now eligible to apply for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) through the end of the national emergency:
- enrolled at least half-time in college, and
- in the current academic year, have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of 0 as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or
- eligible for Federal Work-Study
- work is not required, just eligibility
Most eligible students were sent an email from our office on February 17, 2021 confirming that they fall into this group. If you did not get that email and are interested in applying for SNAP, contact the Office of Student Financial Aid to verify if you may qualify under this expansion.
Once you have verified your eligibility, apply with the Department of Human Services.
