Although students can apply for financial aid throughout the year, some financial aid programs have limited funding and are awarded on a first-come first-served basis. Therefore, it is important that you submit your 2017-2018 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after October 1, 2016. Priority consideration for need-based scholarships and grants awarded by the UI Office of Student Financial Aid (UI OSFA) will be given to students whose FAFSA record has been received by the University of Iowa on or before December 1, 2016. When completing the FAFSA, the UI OSFA recommends that you use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to transfer your tax information directly from the IRS onto your FAFSA.
You may track the status of your financial aid application and loan document status on MyUI. MyUI will indicate if the Office of Student Financial Aid has received the information from your FAFSA and if you have completed all required documents/items. When in MyUI, make sure you select the correct session in the upper right corner when viewing each page, i.e. Fall 2016, Fall 2017.
Students can provide their parents with view only guest access to MyUI.
