Verification of Tax Information
FAFSA uses tax information from two years prior. FAFSA will automatically attempt to transfer your 2022 tax information directly from the IRS. If FAFSA cannot transfer the tax information from the IRS, you will need to:
- Submit a signed copy of your 2022 IRS Form1040 with Schedules 1-3 if filed with your return, OR
- Submit a Federal Tax Return Transcript (requested from the IRS)
If you filed a Foreign Tax Return, submit all pages of that 2022 federal tax return and be sure it is signed by the tax filer. If the currency is not listed in US Dollars, please convert the amounts to US Dollars. Please write the conversion rate on the document.
If the student or parent did not and was not required to file a 2022 tax return, the individual will need to complete an Income Verification Form and may be required to submit a copy of their 2022 IRS Form W-2 (if they worked in 2022).
Verification of Family Size
In certain cases, families will be required to complete a Family Size Confirmation Form.
Verification Incomplete
You can receive an estimated financial aid offer without submitting the required information, however, your financial aid offer will not be finalized, and funds will not be disbursed until the verification review is completed.
If your FAFSA is selected for federal verification, you must submit all required documentation by the following deadlines:
- Fall semester: November 1
- Spring semester: April 1
- Summer term: August 1
If all documents are not submitted by the deadline, all financial aid requiring verification will be canceled. Reinstatement of aid is not guaranteed if verification is completed late. On a case-by-case basis, exceptions to these deadlines may be granted and aid will be reinstated if all verification requirements are met, funds are available, and you still demonstrate eligibility.

Verification of Educational Purpose
Your FAFSA was selected for verification by the US Department of Education to provide proof of identity and to sign a statement of educational purpose. Completion of this process is time sensitive. There are two options to complete this process:
- If you can visit our office in-person, please bring the Office V4 form and your unexpired government issued identification card to our office, OR;
- If you cannot visit our office in-person, please complete the Notary V4 form with your local Notary Public.
